Alphonse Mucha

Alphonse Mucha's art is considered to be the start of the Art Nouveau style with his posters. His work reflected everyday life and was considered to be "the art of the people." Up until this point, much fine art was considered to be only for the elite.

Art Nouveau is a style of art that became popular in the late 19th century, originating in France. It was influenced by the Arts and Crafts style, impressionism, and Asian art.
